Meet Dr. Shawn Casella

Dr. Shawn Casella sees dentistry as much more than just working on teeth; it is about building lasting relationships with patients who place their trust in him. He is dedicated to preventing serious dental disease, detecting oral cancer, and restoring beautiful, healthy smiles. What excites him most about his profession is the opportunity to form long-term connections with patients from all walks of life, treating each with honesty, respect, and compassionate care.

Education and Experience

Dr. Casella has been practicing dentistry since 1989. A lifelong Erie resident, he left the area briefly to pursue his education. After graduating from Fairview High School in 1981, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Allegheny College in 1985. He then received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1989. That same year, he began his career at Modern Dental Group in the Modern Tool Building, where he has proudly practiced ever since.

Committed to continuous learning, Dr. Casella focuses on conservative and cosmetic dentistry while keeping pace with the rapid advancements in modern digital dentistry. His training includes digital radiology, digital impressions, design, fabrication, and delivery of state-of-the-art services.

Dr. Casella is a member of the American Dental Association and the Erie County Dental Association. He also volunteers with Mission of Mercy Pennsylvania, providing free dental care to underserved individuals across the state.

Outside the Office

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Casella enjoys spending time with his wife, Laura, their four adult children, and their Flat-Coated Retriever. Physical fitness is his passion, whether at the gym or out boating on Lake Erie, he finds that exercise provides the physical and mental clarity needed to balance his professional and family life.
